GRABBY WORD OVERVIEW

GrabbyWord is a challenging new word game. Players take turns making words on the board using their letter tiles. Players are awarded points for the words that they make. Opponents can steal letter tiles (points) by creating new words from existing words on the board. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

FIRST WORD

The first word played must include a tile on the center board space.

PLAYING A TURN

During each turn a player may create a word by adding tiles to the board, swapping tiles or passing. Players are awarded points for all tiles on the board that they own (displayed in their color). Words added to the board must be positioned using letters that have already been placed on the board. Each letter tile has a point value. The game board also has multiplier spaces. Letter tiles placed on multiplier spaces will have an increased value based on the multiplier.

STEALING LETTERS

A player can steal letters from an opponent by using the opponent's letters in new words that are added to the board. When a letter is stolen the point value for that letter is taken away from one player and given to the last player to use that tile in a word.

WILD CARD TILES

Tiles with the 'GRABBY EYES' are wildcard tiles. Place the tile on the board and choose any letter for the tile. Wildcard tiles have no point value.

WINNING GRABBYWORD

  • The game is over when either player has played all of their letter tiles.  The player with the highest score is the winner.
  • The game ends after 3 successive passes.  The player with the highest score wins.
  • A player can resign a game.  The player who did not resign is the winner.

OTHER

Players may use their turn to pass or swap tiles instead of playing a word.
